About Us

Hopefully this will be used as an information resource for issues pertinent to aspects of the training scheme. With the aim of finding answers to the vexing issues. The record of the conversation can also help give further information for any frequently asked questions.

This will be accomplished by:

  • liason with the use of the blog section
  • summarizing information from other bulletin boards
  • for any remaining outstanding issues there will be liaison with the Royal College of General Practitioners AiT committee

This website was created for:

  • GPVTS trainees in the Northern Deanery to address local concerns regarding training
  • GPVTS Trainees in all Deaneries are welcome to post on this site to contribute their two pence (after all it is there to be used)
  • GPTVS Trainers should they wish to contribute
  • Any other interested parties who wish to enquire about training issues regarding GPVTS.

If you have any suggestions for improvements or additional feature please do not hesitate to drop a line at: admin@nduk.org

The whys and wherefores regarding this site.
This website was created for the reasons stated above. Website creation is a pet hobby of mine (started back in 1996!).

For anyone interested here comes the techno jargon:
This site has been created in my spare time using Cascading Style Sheet in Macromedia Dreamweaver 8. The FTP transfer work was carried out using SmartFTP. v2.5.1008. The Flash work (using Macromedia Flash 8) took me a bit longer than expected but I am happy I got there in the end. The RSS feeds are limited to the blog section of this site. If feedback dictates that the committee meeting discussions should be placed on RSS then I shall be happy to comply.

I have tried to use what tricks I know eg encoding the email addresses in ASCII to decrease the amount of junk mail etc but I am always willing to try something new...so suggestions are always welcome.

At the moment I am looking at the options to view this site adequately on mobile devices. Let me know if you have any ideas for further development of the site........this is a blank canvas we can make what we want of it...

Additionally I have been looking for other websites related to GP Training. So far have only found a handful, maybe that will change in the future. If you know of any please feel free to let me know, I will be happy to add the information to the links page.

May I also say thanks to my wife for her invaluable advice on this site, for all the help when tweeking the css and deducing the solution to the css code whenever I used to be at the point of hitting my head against a wall.

Also of great help was the www.gp-training.net site. It was great to see other people willing to put their time in to make resource for medical education.
When I have time I will implement some of the rather useful suggestions stated on the Development of Site page on the www.gp-training.net site

"The dwarf sees farther than the giant, when he has the giant's shoulder to mount on."
Samuel Taylor Coleridge, in The Friend (1828)

Look forward to hearing from you
